Derrick Wright
Sifu Derrick Wright is the owner and chief instructor at Wright's Praying Mantis Kung Fu Academy in North Hollywood, California in the San Fernando Valley, Where he teaches Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Gong Self-Defense. Sifu Wright has more than 17 years of experience in the martial arts, his martial arts training started out in Tae Kwan Do.Upon entering the U.S. Marine Corps in 1988, He was presented with the opportunity to travel to Asia, there he learned the basics of various styles such as Hsing Yi, Tai Chi Chuan, and Pa Kwa and Arts of the Dragon Fist. Upon discharge from the military, he started his training at the Shan Tung Kung Fu Association, in Pasadena, California under Master Kenneth Edwards, where he was taught and certified to teach a form of the Wah Lum Tam Tui Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu and other Northern Kung Fu Styles. Since 1999, Sifu Wright has furthered his knowledge and continued his studies in Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu under Master John Cheng of the California Martial Arts Academy in Irvine, California, which has had the most impact on his growth in the martial arts.
